About GlenMeadow Shires
GlenMeadow Shires is a stud that specialises in transporting people back to the bygone days of horse drawn transport. Our stable consists of the beautiful and powerful Shire and Glydesdale breeds. Our name comes from an old farm in Wales and refers to the classic image of an English Meadow in a Glen. Most people who see our Clydesdales affectionately refer to them as the Draught Horse. Tall, gentle but very strong, they stir up emotions of the days when the horse was not only a means of transport but a valuable and powerful tool for working the land.
Based at Balladong Farm near the historic township of York in Western Australia, we offer a wide range of rides and tours for those looking for that special and memorable occasion or who wish to make a lasting impression.
Glen Meadows is a labour of love for owner and founder Jennifer Durham who started the Stud about seven years ago as a way to indulge a lifelong passion for big horses. Wanting to share this love affair with others she has expanded the business offering rides and tours for hire.
With seven working horses to choose from they can be teamed in various combinations with our wonderful collection of historic carriages and buggies. It's not unusual to see a stream of cars slow down or stop so children and adults alike can wave as our carriages roll quietly by.
